After seeing my newsfeed littered with pictures of the coolest new brand out there (The ordinary) I knew I had to get in on the hype. But is it worth it? Spoiler- Absolutely!
Unfortunately the brand isn’t the easiest to get hold of. In the first week of release over 250,000 foundations were sold. Crazy I know. When I first looked most shades were sold out so I kept checking everyday for a few weeks and finally my colour became available. The one thing I do reccomend is choosing a shade darker than your usual colour as even my pale complexion is too dark for their lighter shades.
I bought both foundations that the company offer. The first one is the lightweight serum which is a great foundation for everyday. The formula is super light weight and offers great coverage without feeling sticky or getting cakey. Although the product states it is light coverage, it is significantly fuller than the likes of a bb cream. The formula is extremely pigmented however it does not cover spots with ease. So I would definitely recommend using a fuller coverage concealer when using this foundation. The finish of the foundation is mainly matte with a slight glow to it. It blends seamlessly into the skin and looks super natural, however the foundation slightly clings to any dry patches or imperfections so I always apply a good moisturiser beforehand.
The other base option that the brand offer is the full coverage foundation. And although the coverage is very high, the foundation in no way at all feels heavy or looks too much. The finish of the foundation is matte and although I tend to stick to more radiant foundations, I do still the product looks super pretty on. The foundation is insanely concentrated meaning it instantly covers any redness or problematic areas. However, it does not work well without the brands own primer. The primer is extremely cheap at £3.90, however it can be hassle for everyday. The primer also makes a huge difference to the longevity of the foundations.
Overall, I believe the foundations are an absolute steal for £5.90. If you’re looking for a cheap foundation that feels high end and like skincare then this is the brand for you. I will definitely be trying out more products in the brands range as they are such amazing quality at such a low price point.
